President Muhammadu Buhari and former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo met for the first time since the presidential election
Obasanjo was a staunch critic of Buhari’s second term bid and backed Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Buhari however won the presidential election.
The former president and President Buhari met in Dakar for the inauguration ceremony of President Macky Sall of Senegal on Tuesday, April 2.
Also notably present at the inauguration ceremony were Dr Akinwunmi Adesina, Kola Adesina and Tony Elumelu.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari assured Nigerians that his government would give serious attention to the provision of critical infrastructure and stabilisation of the economy as well as the political environment in his second term.
Vanguard reports that Buhari stated this on Thursday, March 28, when he received special envoy of the president of Republic of Congo at the presidential Villa, Abuja.
Legit.ng gathered that the minister of foreign affairs and Congolese in Diaspora, Jean Claude Gakosso, conveyed a special message on behalf of President Denis Sassou Nguesso to President Buhari.
