The senator representing Delta central senatorial district, Ovie Omo-Agege, has said that he is the most qualified candidate for the office of the deputy senate president at the 9th Senate.
Omo-Agege who is currently participating in a two-week induction programme being organised by the National Assembly management for members and senators- elect at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja said he will soon declare for the office of the deputy senate president following calls and support from colleagues for the position.
The Senator said bearing in mind that the position for the DSP has been zoned to the south south by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) which controls majority in the Senate, he would want to use he opportunity to restore the greatness of the Nigerian government.
Omo-Agege who is also visibly seen lobbying colleagues at the event said with his position, he will fairly ensure that all Nigerians irrespective of where they come from partake of the envisaged change.
Information obtained by Legit.ng from the secrretariat of the Omo-Agege's campaign oragnisation showed that the Senator believes that with a larger majority of APC members in the upper chamber, the Senate can partner with the executive to speedily move Nigeria to the "next level" and deliver the people.
He said: "There is no doubt that our nation faces huge problems of insecurity, unemployment, infrastructural deficit and corruption."
"The men and women of the 9th Senate are up to this challenge provided, we remain committed to working for the good of the people," Omo-Agege said.
Adding that he is prepared to work with everyone in the 9th Senate as a confidant and partner, Omo-Agege said the upper chamber will serve the people better in the discharge of its duties in check and balances without antagonising with the executive while maintaining its independence.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Omo-Agege had restated that his re-election victory in the February 23 National Assembly poll remains valid and legitimate.

Omo-Agege said this on Saturday, March 30 in a statement by Godwin Anaughe, his senior special assistant, communications and strategy, in Abuja.
