Lagos CP pays condolence visit to family of Kolade Johnson, says justice will be done

- The commissioner of police Lagos state, CP Zubairu Muazu on Tuesday, April 2, paid a condolence visi​t to the family of Late Kolade Johnson

- Late Kolade was the young Nigerian killed by the anti-cultism squad of the Nigeria Police Force while watching a football match last weekend

- CP Muazu was received by the head of the deceased’s family, Alhaji Remi Lukman in their residence

The commissioner of police Lagos state, CP Zubairu Muazu on Tuesday, April 2, paid a condolence visi​t to the family of Late Kolade Johnson.

CP Muazu was received by the head of the deceased’s family, Alhaji Remi Lukman in their residence at No. 1 Beco street, Onipetesi, Mangoro bus stop.

In his remarks, the commissioner condemned the action of the members of the anti-cultism team suspected to have carried out the shooting and reiterated his commitment in ensuring that justice is done in the matter.

He stated that the men suspected to have carried out the shooting have been apprehended and subjected to internal disciplinary procedures.

He revealed their names as (1) Inspector Ogunyemi Olalekan and (2) Seargent Godwin Orji attached to anti-cultism squad.

The CP prayed for the repose of the soul of Kolade Johnson and also prayed that the Almighty God will grant the family, friends and well wishers the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

In his reaction, the Head of Kolade Johnson’s family expressed his gratitude to the CP for honoring the family with his presence and his resolve in ensuring that justice prevails in the case.

He commended the CP for the bold steps taken in exposing those behind the shootings, describing his late son as a peace loving person and called on well wishers to remain calm and allow the law to take its cause.

The CP was accompanied by the deputy commissioner of police in charge of the department of finance and administration; DCP Ayuba Elkanah, deputy commissioner of police in charge of the department of operations; DCP Mohammed Ali, deputy commissioner of police in charge of criminal investigation department; DCP Yetunde Longe and other senior police officers from the command.

Meanwhile, the police command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) says it has taken into custody two of its officers who allegedly killed an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Nyanya, Abuja.

Late Ogar Jombo, an Assistant Superintendent of the NSCDC, was allegedly killed on Wednesday, March 20 in the presence of his wife and children, when he was stopped by the policemen for alleged violation of traffic rules.

The commissioner of police in the FCT, Mr Bala Ciroma, who confirmed the arrest and detention of the officers said that investigation was ongoing to unravel the cause of the incident.
