The governorship candidate of Africa Action Congress (AAC) in Rivers, Biokpomabo Awara, has reportedly defeated the incumbent governor, Nyesome Wike, as INEC announced the result from Oyigbo local government area.
Awara, who was the anointed candidate of transport minister, Rotimi Amaechi, floored Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s Wike by polling a total number of 32,026 votes, Daily Trust reports.
Legit.ng gathers that Wike scored 8,612 votes, though the governor cruised to a comfortable win in Andoni local government area with 92,056 votes.
According to the result announced by the electoral commission, Awara polled scored 5,335 votes in Adoni community.
Earlier, Governor Wike reportedly floored Awara in Port Harcourt City local government area as he comfortably polled 40,866 to defeat AAC's Awara, who scored 11,866 votes .
It was the same result in Ikwerre local government area, where Wike polled 14,938 votes to defeat Awara, who scored 5,660 votes.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that INEC said it would not be conducting fresh governorship and House of Assembly elections in Rivers state.
The electoral umpire made the disclosure at a meeting held at an event centre, located along Eastern Bye-Pass, Port Harcourt.
