- The APC has debunked rumours which claimed that there is a rancour between Adams Oshiomhole and minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi
- According to the party spokesman, Lanre Isa-Onilu, Oshiomhole and Amaechi enjoy cordial relationship and do share mutual respect
- Isa-Onilu, however, said the duo are above the petty insinuations being orchestrated by a section of the media
The All Progressives Congress on Monday night, April 1, dismissed reports which claimed that there was a dispute between its national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole and minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the party said there was no disagreement between the Oshiomhole and Amaechi on the adoption of the governorship candidate of the AAC for the governorship election in Rivers state.
In a statement issued and signed by APC spokesman, Lanre Isa-Onilu, the party accused a section of the media of petty insinuation as he claimed that Oshiomhole’s remarks was twisted to “suit a jaundiced narrative.” APC further said the duo “enjoy cordial relationship and do share mutual respect.”
The statement read: ”Our attention has been drawn to some reports in the media purporting a disagreement between the national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole and minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi over the alignment of the Rivers State APC with the governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Awara Biokpomabo.
''It is regrettable that the APC national chairman’s statement is being twisted to suit a jaundiced narrative. This narrative is at best, mischievous, pedestrian and should be disregarded.
''The APC chairman’s statement is unambiguous as to the effect that the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) does not have any formal alliance with AAC. This is without prejudice to any local arrangement that may exist.''
''Both Oshiomhole and Amaechi are above the petty insinuations being orchestrated by a section of the Media.
''Like many leaders of the party, APC national chairman, Oshiomhole and the minister of transport, Amaechi enjoy cordial relationship and do share mutual respect; therefore, deliberate misinterpretation of issues and statements from the party or between the two of them would continue to fail.”
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Rochas Okorocha of Imo state on Monday, April 1, said the leadership style of Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of the APC will cost the party a lot of problems in the future.
Governor Okorocha said that the ruling party lost power in some state during the just-concluded general elections due to the conduct of Oshiomhole.
Bringing the matter home, Okorocha said that Oshiomhole's alleged high-handedness brought about the APC not having any elected political office holder in Imo after the poll.
