'Premier League official' caught celebrating Liverpool's winner against Tottenham at Anfield

A mystery man's celebration during Liverpool winner against Tottenham at Anfield has got the attention of fans on social media.

Toby Alderweireld's own goal gave the Merseysiders the much needed win that kept their Premier League hopes alive.

But the mystery man who was wearing a Premier League match officials jacket was seen fist pumping when Alderweireld scored an own goal.

The man who was sitting in an area of the dugout reserved for officials between the home and away benches also applauded Mohamed Salah when he was substituted.

All his actions caught the eye of cameras on television which got users on Twitter buzzing with responses.

Some social media users thought the man was a match official, but SunSport understands the man is a masseur for match officials provided on match days.

One user wrote: "Yes that is a match official fist pumping/celebrating a Liverpool goal."

Another social media post read: "Just a match official celebrating Liverpool’s winning goal. Nothing to see here."

Twitter user @ForeverBoleyn blasted: "More proof that The FA are doing all they can to make Liverpool win the Premier League instead of Manchester City.

"We’ve seen the awful decisions this season, now we’ve seen the officials celebrating when they score. This is absolutely sickening!"

While another demanded the governing body look in to it.

They wrote: "The @FA should investigate the match official who’d was celebrating the Liverpool goal.

"That’s something that should not happen. Especially with transparency that the @premierleague likes to be."

But not everyone was fuming.

One supporter said: "People can’t even enjoy what they do anymore.

"Not necessarily celebrating 'Liverpool' scoring but just enjoying a good fame of football."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that the Premier League table took a dramatic twist over the weekend as Liverpool, Man City, Man United and Chelsea all secured important victories.

Tottenham who were at some point in December nine points above Manchester United on the table are now level with the Manchester based club.
