Gbajabiamila, best qualified to be House speaker - Jibrin

- Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin says his colleague, Femi Gbajabiamila, is the best qualified candidate to become the next speaker of the House

- Jibrin said Gbajabiamila has accumulated enough legislative experience that stands him out among other contenders

- The Kano lawmaker added that Gbajabiamila will ensure the independence of the legislature

Honourable Abdulmumin Jibrin who represents the Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency of Kano state in the House of Representatives says his colleague, Femi Ggajabiamila, remains the best qualified candidate to become speaker of the House in the incoming ninth Assembly.

Jibrin made the assertion during Gbajabiamila's formal declaration for the House speakership at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja on Sunday, March 31, Daily Trust reports.

Legit.ng gathers that Jibrin, who is the director-general of the Femi Gbajabiamila Speakership Campaign Organization, added that Gbajabiamila has accumulated enough legislative experience that stands him out among other contenders.

Jibrin stated: “He is the best candidate because when you have him, you consider the job done. He will also ensure the independence of the legislature.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) explained why it settled for Senator Ahmad Lawan and Hon Femi Gbajabiamila as Senate president and House speaker respectively.

The party leadership said its decision was because the duo are the highest ranking members in both chambers of the National Assembly.

The party on Wednesday, March 27, through its national publicity secretary, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, also said it was working to achieve consensus among its federal legislators, adding that all the aggrieved aspirants were being spoken to, to understand the position of its leaders.
