- Philippe Coutinho of Barcelona has emerged as a summer target for Chelsea
- The Brazil international is also wanted by Manchester United when the season comes to an end
- Coutinho is said to have told his friends that he is considering leaving Spanish side Barcelona
Chelsea are now said to have joined Premier League rivals Manchester United in the summer race to sign Barcelona forward Philippe Coutinho.
This comes after the Brazilian admitted that he is considering leaving the reigning Spanish La Liga champions at the end of the season.
Coutinho joined the Spanish giants for a whopping £145 million just 14 months ago but things have not gone according to expectation.
The ex Liverpool star has scored just nine goals in 41 appearances this season for Barcelona and has fallen out of favor with manager Ernesto Valverde.
"I am thinking about leaving Barcelona, I know that it is a difficult decision, but it can be the best thing for my career,'' Coutinho is said to have told pals according to UK Sun.
Should Chelsea have their transfer ban postponed, then the Blues are expected to splash the cash this summer.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Philippe Coutinho is set to leave La Liga champions Barcelona at the end of the current campaign.
The Mirror citing Barcelona-based newspaper Sport, revealed that the Brazilian who joined the Catalan giants in 2018 has informed club mates he wants to quit Barcelona.
Since arriving from Liverpool, Coutinho has not found it easy to settle down at the Nou Camp, and has been reportedly linked with Manchester United.
