- Pochettino was previously tipped to be handed the Manchester United role but he has now sent Solskjaer his congratulations
Tottenham Hotspurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has congratulated Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the Norwegian's appointment as Manchester United boss on permanent basis.
Solskjaer was named Man United full-time manager on Thursday, March 28, in a three-year deal.
The 46-year-old has enjoyed an impressive start to life at Old Trafford since replacing Jose Mourinho back in December 2018 on interim capacity.
Before Solskjaer's appointment, Pochettino was one of United’s top choice candidates to replace Mourinho, but the 47-year-old is now on course to remain at Spurs.
"I need to congratulate him and wish him all the best now he is officially the new manager of Manchester United," the UK Metro quoted Pochettino.
"I am not going to talk about rumours and in this period there is going to be more rumours, but there is nothing I can do about it," the Argentine added.
Meanwhile, Solskjaer will be seeking to have his side bounce back to winning ways when they host Watford on Saturday, March 30, at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils currently sit fifth on the log with 58 points, two behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
