1. Avoid lonely highways:

2. Avoid staying out late:

Another way to avoid being robbed in traffic is to stop keeping late nights. There are also cases of daylight robberies but you will agree that getting robbed at night is rampant. Outings that lead to moving at odd times of the night include clubbing, meetings and much more.

3. Don’t talk to strangers:

We are living in the time where people believe in voodoo (fetish items/charms), so in order not to get robbed in traffic, avoid speaking with strangers who might have used voodoo to talk to prospective robbery victims. Sometimes robbers come to you disguising to be friendly while seeking for directions or information about something.

4. Avoid making use of your phones:

6. Take off flashy jewelries at night:

Walking around rocking flashy and expensive jewelries is not your best at nights. The glitters coming from your fashion pieces can attract a robber to you or your vehicle. Please be conscious at all times.

7. Don’t move around with so much cash:

Many have fallen victims of being robbed all their cash either in their private cars or commercial vehicles. Everyone is going cashless, so it is advisable that you move around with less cash as well as your ATM cards so if your money is taken, they won’t force you to give them your ATM pin at gun point and still take the savings you have left.

8. Hold your purse or backpack in front of you:

Aside from being stuck in traffic, as long as you are not in your own car, you must learn to keep your backpacks where you can see them. Having them strapped to your back might not be a good idea when walking in the street as anyone can take them away from you.

Your purse should also be kept somewhere and not your trouser back pockets where it can be reached easily.

9. Have a gas spray in your hand:

It is very essential to have a gas or pepper spray in your bags because you can't tell hen this will come in helpful. Once you are attacked by robbers and you easily reach for the spray, target their eyes. Immediately this has been sprayed in their eyes, it becomes easy for you to escape.

10. Don't try to fight back:

Once you are being attacked or out numbered, never try to fight back because this can make him/them angry.
