I will stabilise economy, prioritise infrastructure development in my second term - Buhari

- President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to prioritise infrastructure development in his second term in office

- The president also said he would stabilise Nigeria's economy

- Buhari said without social, political and economic stability, it would be difficult for any country to effectively manage its resources

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that his government would give serious attention to the provision of critical infrastructure and stabilisation of the economy as well as the political environment in his second term.

Vanguard reports that Buhari stated this on Thursday, March 28, when he received special envoy of the president of Republic of Congo at the presidential Villa, Abuja.

Legit.ng gathered that the minister of foreign affairs and Congolese in Diaspora, Jean Claude Gakosso, conveyed a special message on behalf of President Denis Sassou Nguesso to President Buhari.

“Stability is critical, if a country would manage its resources effectively. I am aware of the problems of our own country. We are very large, deficient in infrastructure, and trying to improve on political and economic stability. In my last lap in office, I will give it my best'', Buhari said.

He said without social, political and economic stability, it would be difficult for any country to effectively manage its resources.

Delivering the message of the Congolese leader, the envoy described Buhari’s recent victory at the presidential polls as a “brilliant performance.”

The special envoy, on behalf of Gakossot, wished President Buhari wisdom and good health, so that he can continue to lead his people efficiently and effectively.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that service chiefs and heads of other security agencies met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Thursday, March 28.

It was reported that the agenda of the closed-door meeting was not made public; though the president holds regular meetings with heads of the security agencies, during which, he gets briefings on developments within their areas of responsibility.
