Gunmen kill husband in Kaduna, abduct nursing wife

Tragedy struck in Kaduna on Thursday, March 28, when a when suspected gunmen stormed Rigasa community and killed a man identified simply as Abdul’azeez and kidnapped his nursing wife.

The incident was said to have occurred in the early hours of Thursday when the armed men stormed the victim’s residence located at Karshen Kwalta, Daily Trust reports. gathers that a neighbour who craved anonymity stated that the whole community was thrown into confusion as many of them now live in fear.

He said: “The victim is a local designer (of kaftan, a Hausa male gown) in Rigasa and that he was a tenant in the house they attacked.

“Kidnapping for ransom has increased in Rigasa and environs because hardly a day passes without somebody being kidnapped. We need help please."

The source said said the victim had been buried according to Islamic rites at Taro-Taro cemetery.

He said call had been made by the kidnappers and ransom had been demanded.

Meanwhile, previously reported that police in Zamfara on Tuesday, February 5, confirmed the killing of 15 persons and kidnap of six women by gunmen in Gusau local government area of the state.

The public relations officer of the command, SP Muhammad Shehu, made the confirmation in a statement in Gusau.

Shehu said that on Monday, February 4, there was an attack in Wonaka, Ajja, Mada, Ruwan Baure, Doka, Takoka and Tudun-Maijatau villages of Mada district in Gusau area.

He said a woman was among the persons killed, adding that the attackers also kidnapped six women and a man.

Shehu said: “Fortunately, with the efforts of police and sister security agencies, the abducted women have regained their freedom and have re-joined their families.

“Normalcy has been restored to the affected villages, with improved deployment of PMF, CTU, Special Forces and Military teams to the area to forestall further attack on neighbouring villages." ( -> We have updated to serve you better
