Jubilation as Kenya welcomes home teacher who won over N350m for his charitable work

Noble teacher and people's favorite Peter Tabichi has received a king's welcome after finally returning to Kenya following his major win.

The generous man filled people's hearts with pride and admiration when he clinched the much coveted Global Teacher's prize of over N350 million.

The event took place on Wednesday, March 27, and it was quite clear Peter's homecoming was a glorious fete and a highly anticipated celebration.

Students held placards pasted with lovely messages as most of them proudly indicated how proud they were of the victor.

Excited dancers donned in traditional attire jumped and swayed to the beat of drums in complete joy as they sang to honor the kind teacher.It was a colorful ceremony and one could easily be mistaken to think a president or a dignitary was the guest of honor.

Everyone was hyped up and struggled to catch a glimpse of the sensation who has garnered support both locally and globally. It was all song, dance, cheers and never ending chants and one could not help but join on the fun.

Peter was hailed at the annual Global Teachers' Awards for channeling 80% of his salary towards schooling less fortunate students. The ceremony which was attended by the who's who of the world was held in Dubai.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and sports cabinet secretary Amina Mohammed were among proud leaders who congratulated the Catholic monk on his major achievement.

The physics and maths educator who teaches at Keriko Secondary School in Nakuru county will receive his massive prize in installments of 10 years.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously gathered the report of a man who had taken to social media with the narration of how he reduced the exam scores of a deserving student from 70 to 69.

According to him, he did this because he does not want the student giving testimonies of how hard he prayed or how brilliant he was.
