INEC presents return certificates to Taraba governor, lawmakers-elect

- INEC has presented Certificates of Return to Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba and the state lawmakers-elect

- The electoral commission urged Ishaku to fulfill the campaign promises he made to the electorate who renewed his mandate

- On his part, the governor urged the people of the state to give him peace, so he would be able to deliver his campaign promises

Certificates of Return have been presented to the governor-elect and executive governor of Taraba state, Darius Ishaku, and the 24 members-elect of the state House of Assembly by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The INEC national commissioner in charge of Adamawa, Gombe and Taraba states, Ahmed Tijani, presented the certificates at the state office of the electoral commission in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital, Leadership reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the commissioner urged Ishaku to fulfill the campaign promises he made to the electorate who renewed his mandate.

He also urged the incoming lawmakers to give the best legislation that can move the state forward in the next four years, and support the state government.

In his response, the governor thanked INEC for conducting a peaceful, fair and credible election in the state.

He also urged the people of the state to give him peace, so he would be able to deliver his campaign promises.

He said: “With peace, every development will be achieved. Take a look at the communities that are living in peace during my four years as a governor; one must agree that there is one development or the other.

“Please, like I always say, give me peace and I will give you the desired development.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that INEC on Wednesday, March 27, issued a certificate of return to the Imo state governor-elect, Emeka Ihedioha.

The certificate was presented to the governor-elect by Prof Francis Ezeonu, the INEC resident electoral commissioner in the state.

Apart from Ihedioha, 27 members of the Imo House of Assembly elected in the March 9 election were also issued return certificates by INEC.
