Malta vs Spain ended in a 2-0 win for Luis Enrique's side who was absent for the match due to family engagements.

The Spanish side dominated proceedings from start to finish as the Maltese sat back not to concede too many goals.

It was Chelsea loanee Alvaro Morata who got the curtain raiser in the 31st minute as he twist and turned his marker before applying the finish to make it 1-0.

Atletico Madrid star Saul Nigues should have made it two from a brilliant set play but the midfielder was unable to keep his shot down and the ball narrowly went over the bar.

And that was how it stood as the Spaniards continued their perfect start to their Euro 2020 Group E qualifiers.

In the other group matches, Norway and Sweden played out a 3-3 draw in a Scandinavian contest, while Romania defeated Faroe Islands by 4-1.

Spain top the group with six points from two matches followed by Sweden who have four with Romania and Malta sharing three points apiece.

Norway occupy fifth position with one point while Faroe Island are languishing at the bottom with no point recorded so far.

Meanwhile, had earlier reported that France vs Iceland ended in a thrilling 4-0 win for the world champions as the Didier Deschamps' side top Group H with superior goal difference over Turkey.
