Super Eagles players were handed a massive $60,000 cash boost by Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa of Delta state on Tuesday, March 26, as reward for victories against Seychelles’ Pirates in their final 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying tie and the international friendly against Egypt’s Pharaohs.
A further breakdown of the cash award according to Thenff.com, revealed that the state chief executive gifted Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr $10,000, while squad members had the balance of $50,000.
Interestingly, Governor Okowa also rewarded the Eagles for qualifying for the 2019 AFCON after playing out a 1-1 draw against South Africa last year, which was followed with a friendly against Uganda Cranes three days later in Asaba.
The football house aside from hailing Governor Okowa for his support to the team, and Nigerian Football generally, also applaud Super Eagles stand-in captain Ahmed Musa for splashing out N4m on Dream Team VII after their 4-0 win over Libya.
