Sheikh Ahmad Sulaiman, a popular northern Qur’anic recite from Kano state, has been released by his kidnappers days after his abduction was announced causing panic among the religious.
Daily Trust reports that his release was confirmed by Malam Muhammad Kabir, who spoke on behalf of the family.
Kabir was quoted as saying the scholar was in good condition.
“Sheikh Sulaiman is on his way to Kano now. I can confirm to you that he has been released by the kidnappers. Alhamdulillah, we thanked Allah for sparing his life in the hand of the kidnappers,” Kabir said.
The report said Sheikh Sulaiman was kidnapped with five other Islamic scholars 13 days ago along Sheme-Kankara road in Katsina state while they were on their way to Kano from Birnin-Kebbi, Kebbi state.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Sheikh Ahmad Sulaiman and five other persons were kidnapped in Katsina state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Katsina state Police Command, SP Gambo Isa, confirmed the abduction to newsmen on Friday in Katsina.
He, however, said that the police were making efforts to trail the kidnappers and rescue the victims.
Isa urged the general public to continue to provide police with information on criminals and their activities with a view to safeguard peoples’ lives and property.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna state police command on Monday, March 25, confirmed the abduction of a Christian cleric, Reverend Father John Bako, at Ankuwa village in Kachia local government area of the state.
The command’s public relations officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) late night in Kaduna.

Sabo said that information reaching the command from the divisional police office in Kachia indicated that on Monday at about 0800hrs, armed men had entered the residence of the cleric and took him away to unknown destination.
