Breaking: INEC commends Army for its professionalism during Akwa Ibom elections

The Nigerian Army has been commended for its professionalism and excellent conduct during the 2019 general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akwa Ibom state.

Mike Igini, the Akwa Ibom Resident Electoral Commissioner, hailed officers and men of 6 Division led by Col MU Ahmed deployed for election duties in Akwa Ibom state.

In a letter personally signed by Igini, he singled the officers out for commendation for their exceptional non-partisan and professional conduct in the discharge of their duties during the elections.

Recall that Legit.ng had reported that Mike Igini, the REC for the INEC in Akwa Ibom, revealed that those who want him out actually tried to make him compromise to no avail.

Igini, who spoke in an interview also said his job in the state was to allow equal and fair opportunities to all candidates and their parties.

“Those looking for compromise in the process are the ones who are also calling for my removal. Why would you remove a man who says he wants to give everybody an equal opportunity, equal chance and there is no evidence so far of any compromise of any kind because I carry everybody along.

"I have never stepped into the house of any human being since I came to this state," he said.
