Gernot Rohr has released Super Eagles starting XI ahead of Tuesday’s international friendly against Egypt’s Pharaohs at Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
According to Complete Sports, the Franco-German tactician revealed that South Africa-based shot-stopper, Daniel Akpeyi, who recently moved from Chippa United to Kaizer Chiefs will be between the sticks for the Eagles with Katsina United’s Ikechukwu Ezenwa taking over goalkeeping duties from Akpeyi in the second stanza.
Rohr also hinted FC Midtjylland of Denmark star, Paul Onuachu, will spearhead Nigeria attack against Egypt.
“The two goalkeepers will play tomorrow. Akpeyi will start, Ezenwa will play second half,” Rohr was quoted by Complete Sports on Monday in Asaba.
“The goalkeeping department is for the goalkeeper coach but I make the final decision. We are looking to the future. Uzoho made a good World Cup, he made a mistake but he is young. Competition is open,” noted Rohr, who also confirmed Eagles forward Odion Ighalo will not start as he is still battling a knock he suffered against Seychelles on Friday.

Gernot Rohr's men went into the game with great confidence and relaxed minds after winning the first leg 3-0 away and coupled with the fact that Nigeria had already qualified for 2019 AFCON.
Nigeria started the match impressively with Arsenal striker Alex Iwobi winning a free-kick for the Super Eagles in the 5th minute, but Ahmed Musa was unable to connect with it.
Seychelles had a great chance for them to have taken the lead in the 9th minute when Jude setup Karl, but goalkeeper Francis Uzoho made a nice save.
