Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto has promised to run an all inclusive and "cabal-free government," while thanking the people of the state for re-electing him.

Speaking with journalists on Monday, March 26, after he was declared winner of the Sokoto governorship election, the former speaker said his government will be run by the spirit of renewed confidence the people of Sokoto repose in him, Daily Trust reports.

He attributed his victory to "God's work," adding that all fences will be mended to facilitate development to the seat of caliphate state.

Legit.ng recalls that Tambuwal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was declared winner of the March 23 supplementary election after defeating his opponent of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Ahmed Aliyu, with 342 votes difference.

He, however, denied receiving congratulatory message from the APC candidate and Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, though promising to extend the hands of friendship to them in order to run the state effectively.

The governor also promised to work with all and sundry including the Sultanate Council, community leaders and security agencies, in order to tackle the lingering presence of banditry in the state.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Sokoto state chapter of the APC on Sunday, March 24, rejected the declaration of Governor Tambuwal as winner of the just-concluded governorship election in the state.

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier declared Tambuwal winner of the election after Saturday’s supplementary with a narrow margin of 342 votes.
