Harry Maguire is wanted by Manchester United for world record £90m fee

- Harry Maguire is set to become the highest paid defender if he joins Manchester United

- The Leicester City forward has been targeted by the Old Trafford outfit since last season

- Manchester United will reportedly cough out a whopping £90million for his services

Harry Maguire has being slapped with a staggering world record £90million price tag by Premier League side Leicester City.

Manchester United have made several attempts in signing the England center-back last summer and have been linked with another bid.

However, Daily Star claim Old Trafford chiefs would break the £90m record fee Liverpool paid for Virgil Van Dijk to make Maguire become the most expensive defender in the world.

The 26-year-old is still under contract at the King Power Stadium until 2023 after signing a new deal in September.

And the Foxes are under no pressure to sell the central defender meaning they can name a price.

Football pundit, Shaka Hislop reckons Maguire would be a perfect fit at Old Trafford.

The ESPN pundit said: “I think he’d be a hit.

“I liked this link when it first cropped up, what, 12 months ago.

“I continue to like it even though I will say that Solskjaer’s gotten a lot better return out of the centre-halves that he has at his disposal now.

“But I think Maguire continues to grow in confidence and stature in the English game.

“I’m not sure that Manchester United have the centre-backs that they want to stay with long term.

“So as a result, as much improved as United’s centre-backs have been, I still think this is a good fit, and I’ll put that down as a hit.

“I think Maguire has improved and this is a good acquisition for Manchester United."
