Former Manchester United handler Jose Mourinho has thrown jibes at Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino after failing to win titles for their club sides.

The Portuguese tactician won Europa League and EFL Cup titles after just one season at Old Trafford.

Pochettino joined Spurs in 2014, and after five years, he has not been able to produce a single trophy for the Lilywhites.

While Klopp's four seasons at Anfield since he joined them from Borussia Dortmund have been without a prize.

SunSport reports that Mourinho believes modern day football is full of 'contradictions' about how coaches approach winning matches compared to playing the game in a certain manner.

The former Manchester United boss told BeIN Sports: “I won titles everywhere I have been and I cannot run away from my mentality.

"Some coaches like to sell the idea of a philosophy, but you have to sell the philosophy after you win. "If you win nothing, what is the point?

"If your team plays very well, your team wins, so I don't like these contradictions we have in football nowadays."

Three months after getting sacked by United, Mourinho is on the look out for a new job and has earmarked a time-frame for returning to management.

"I want to return this summer, starting from June, for the beginning of the season," he said.

"I know exactly what I don’t want, which is why I have already turned down three or four offers.

"I don’t mean the name of the club, but the type of work, the style of club. I know what I want and I hope to get it."

Earlier, reported that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has called under fire Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho “the most successful manager in the world” as both manager's sides prepare for a showdown at Anfield.

Mourinho has earlier taken a slight dig at the German manager about his failure to win trophies since becoming boss at the Merseyside club. But the ex-Dortmund gaffer showed his class when he said:

"Manchester United never ever show a lack of ambition. Mourinho is the most successful manager in the world and that’s how it is. ( -> We have updated to serve you better
