PDP accuses APC of plotting to arrest its members in Bauchi

- PDP says it has credible information indicating that the APC plans to detain its leaders in Bauchi state to enable rigging in the supplementary election

- The spokesperson for the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, alleges that the APC also plans to use thugs and compromised security agents in snatching election materials in the Bauchi election

- Ologbondiyan calls on Nigerians to hold the APC responsible should any harm befall any of its leaders or members in Bauchi state during and after the elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is planning illegal mass arrest of top PDP leaders in Bauchi state with the help of compromised security personnel.

The spokesperson for the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement on Saturday, March 23, said his party had credible information indicating that the APC plans to detain PDP leaders in Bauchi to enable rigging in the supplementary election, This Day reports.

“The PDP leaders earmarked for the illegal mass arrest by the APC include but not limited to Alhaji Bello Kirfi, Senator Abdul Ningi, Senator Suleiman Nazif, Senator Isa Hamma Misau, Alhaji Hamza Akuyam, PDP Bauchi State Chairman, Hon Salisu Zakari Ningi, Hon Ahmed Yerima, Hon Samaila Burgah, Hon Aminu Tukur as well as PDP leaders and agents in the 29 polling units where elections are holding in the state,” he said.

Ologbondiyan also alleged that the APC plans to use thugs and compromised security agents in snatching election materials for the purpose of taking them to INEC office in Bauchi for collation and announcement.

He said should any harm befall any of its leaders or members in Bauchi state during and after the elections, Nigerians should hold the APC responsible for such action.

The PDP chieftain noted that his party members were monitoring the electoral process in Bauchi state and would not allow falsification of results at the polling units.

Meanwhile, four officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have been reportedly abducted in Bauchi state, The Cable reports.

The incident reportedly happenedd at Jamare local government Registration Area 02 with Polling Unit Code 010.

A staff of INEC, who escaped said the armed security operatives came in seven Toyota Hilux vans. According to him, the abducted staff were taken away with voting materials.
