Kano APC hits back at PDP, says no need for cancellation of rerun

- Kano APC has hit back at PDP for calling for the cancellation of the ongoing supplementary election

- The APC chairman in Kano, Abdullahi Abbas, said there was no tangible reason for the cancellation

- Abass also denied the allegation that his party deployed people from Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna and Kebbi to vote in the rerun poll

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kano state has reacted to the the call by the Peoples Democratic Party (APC) for the immediate cancellation of the supplementary election in the state.

Legit.ng had reported that Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, the Kano chairman of PDP, reportedly called on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel the ongoing rerun elections with immediate effect in the state.

Responding to the call, the Kano state chairman of the APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, said there was no tangible reason for the cancellation.

Also denying the allegation raised by the opposition party, Abass said: “The call by the PDP for cancellation of election was uncalled-for because the election is still ongoing.

“INEC should ensure conclusion of the election. PDP should wait for the final result of the poll and then take legal action if not satisfied with it. That is what the law provided.

“I think PDP failed to mobilise its people that’s all.”

Abass also denied the allegation that his party deployed people from Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna and Kebbi to vote in the election, calling on security operatives to ensure the safety of voters across the 28 LGAs where the rerun holds.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that voters and some journalists covering the supplementary governorship election in Kano state on Saturday, March 23, escaped lynching by some suspected thugs at Suntulma Primary School in Gama ward of Nasarawa local government area of the state.

The journalists, who were in the area to monitor the poll, were chased out of the place by the hoodlums.
