Chelsea captain Eden Hazard has aimed a dig at Thibaut Courtois after making a blunder in Belgium's 3-1 win over Russia in their Euro 2020 qualifiers.
The 26-year-old forced a move away from Stamford Bridge to join Real Madrid in August but his first season at the Bernabeu has been marked with series of school-boy errors.
Such that he repeated on Thursday evening after gifting Denis Cheryshev an opportunity to reduce their deficit in the 16th minute of their meeting.
Two minutes after Youri Tielemans had given the Red Devils the lead in the 14th minute of the encounter.
Hazard, who has also been linked with a move to join Los Blancos at the end of this season stepped up to netted brace and inspire his side to victory in the match.
SunSport reports that Courtois has been heavily criticised by different quarters including Atletico Madrid fans who labelled him 'snake' for joining rivals Real Madrid.
However, Hazard aimed a dig at his former Chelsea teammate - claiming he was trying to copy his ability on the ball.
The 28-year-old said on a TV interview that: "Thibaut Courtois watches a lot of videos of my actions and then he tries to copy me. The problem is, he is much taller than me, so it isn’t that easy."
Courtois, after the game was said to have admitted making similar mistake while playing for Chelsea four years ago.
The goalkeeper tried dribbling an opponent, but ended up kicking the ball into Abel Hernandez's hand, who scored in Chelsea's 3-2 win at the KCOM Stadium.
Hazard's comments was however aimed at helping the keeper maintain his confidence level according to the publication.
The former Chelsea goaltender was dropped to the bench in Zinedine Zidane's first match in charge of Real Madrid in his second stint.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Thibaut Courtois' mistake was the high point of Belgium's 3-1 win over Russia in a Euro 2020 qualifier.
The Real Madrid shot-stopper made a horrible blunder after failing to clear a back-pass as Denis Cheryshev pounced on the mistake to put the score level at 1-1.
Courtois cost Real Madrid £38 million last summer but has failed to replicate his form in the Premier League back in Spain.
