- Gernot Rohr claims Nigeria are not among the top three favourites to win AFCON 2019 title
- The Franco-German tactician says he and his players have to remain humble ahead of the tournament
- Nigeria will face Seychelles in their last AFCON qualifier on Friday, March 22, at the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba
Gernot Rohr, Nigeria's coach, believes the Super Eagles are not one of the top three favourites to win the AFCON 2019 in Egypt.
According to the Franco-German tactician, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia and Senegal are the top four favourites to win the Nations Cup.
Rohr made this statement while speaking to Legit.ng and other sports journalists at the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba, Delta state.
He said: "Morocco is number one in Africa, they are natural favourites. Egypt with one of the biggest players in the world (Salah) are at home, so they are one of the favourites.
"Senegal and Tunisa are number two and three in Africa so they are also favourites, we have to stay humble. To declare today that we will win the AFCON will be stupid, it is not our philosophy."
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Nigeria will square up against the Pirates of Seychelles in their last African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying game on Friday, March 22, at the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba, Delta state.
Ahead of the encounter, Gernot Rohr’s men had their last training session at the main bowl of the match venue, as the players were put through their fitness level, aerial duels, speed and how to take and defend set-pieces.
