Paris Saint Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has been tipped as the next footballer to win the 2019 Ballon d'Or.

The 20-year-old forward has netted 26 goals and six assists in 23 French League appearances so far this campaign.

He was also superb for France when they won the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia - scoring four goals in seven matches.

The striker finished fourth behind Luka Modric, Cristiano Ronaldo, while Lionel Messi was fifth on the chart last year.

Mbappe's goal tally in the French League stands at 31, with 15 assists for the Parisians in the current season.

The Frenchman has also scored more than 50 goals since he joined PSG from Monaco on an initial loan spell in 2017, and is destined to win the prestigious award in the near future.

Real Madrid star Luka Modric broke Messi and Ronaldo's dominance to win the 2018 Ballon d'Or award - the first time in ten years.

Brazil forward Neymar is another player is contention to lift the prestigious prize - having netted 20 goals in 23 matches this campaign.

The 27-year-old last featured for PSG on January 23 after picking up a foot injury, but is still 3/1 with Betfair to win the award.

Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann is also in contention for the award with 8/1 odds, while Mohamed Salah, Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and Paul Pogba are all 14/1.

While Borussia Dortmund ace Jadon Sancho is 50/1 with the bookies following his impressive season in the Bundesliga. He has scored nine goals and 17 assists in 35 games for the German giants.

He recently spoke of his dream to win the Ballon d'Or, as he said: "I feel like that should be every player’s goal.

"Obviously, I dream of winning the Ballon d’Or, given the likes of those who have won it previously, like Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, [Luka] Modric and Ronaldinho.

"All these greats have won it, so I feel like that should be a big inspiration to everyone in the world that plays football."

Legit.ng earlier reported that Luka Modric has been named winner of the 2018 Ballon d'Or award after beating Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo to the prize.

This will be the first time since 2008 that another player apart from Lionel Messi and Ronaldo would emerge winner - having won five awards each.

Meanwhile, Barcelona captain also finished outside of top five best players in the world as revealed after the winner has been announced.
