Imo PDP in a hurry to resume their usual looting - Okorocha

- Governor Okorocha has alleged that Imo state chapter of the PDP is corrupt

- The Imo governor said the party is in a hurry to resume its alleged looting of treasury and properties of the state

- According to Okorocha, since Emeka Ihedioha was declared winner of the governorship election in the state, the party has not made any policy statement

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo on Thursday, March 21, claimed that PDP members in the state are "in a hurry to resume their alleged looting of the treasury and properties of the state".

The governor said this is obvious from their body languages and their utterances especially since they have stayed out of power for eight years.

"Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state are obviously in a hurry to resume their usual looting of the treasury and properties of the state," he said.

Okorocha alleged that the people of Imo never voted for the PDP and would not have voted for the party and its candidate Emeka Ihedioha, but the REC in Imo decided to return the party to power at all cost and by all means for his own selfish reasons, Vanguard reports.

In a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, the governor said: "Since the party’s candidate, Chief Emeka Ihedioha was fraudulently declared winner of the governorship election in the state following the askance role of the REC, Francis Ezeonu, the party and its members have not made any policy statement on where they are taking-off from and where they are going from there.

"They are either talking about non-existent N17billion that has been withdrawn by the government or talking about the lands to revoke and the vehicles that have been auctioned or threatening fire and brimstone.

"And when they were challenged to say where in Imo one can find N17b to withdraw and whether the money was withdrawn cash or by transfer, they evaporated. ‘Imo people never voted for the PDP and would not have voted for the party and its Candidate Chief Emeka Ihedioha, but the REC in Imo decided to return the party to power at all cost and by all means for his own selfish reasons."

According to the governor, Imo people are not happy with the victory of the PDP which is why they are celebrating. He said the party governed Imo for twelve years and has nothing to show for it. "But Governor Rochas Okorocha has more than one thousand verifiable projects to his Credit," the statement added.

Recall that Legit.ng reported that INEC on Monday, March 18, said it would not present a certificate of return to Governor Okorocha.

INEC’s national commissioner, information and voter education, Festus Okoye, said the electoral body took the decision because the returning officer for Imo West senatorial district election said that he declared Governor Okorocha as the winner “under duress”.
