Just in: Suspected herdsmen kill LG secretary in Enugu

- Secretary of Uzo-Uwani local government area of Enugu state has been shot dead by suspected herdsmen

- The suspected herdsmen reportedly attacked his vehicle on his way back from a peace meeting

- Ogueche was said to have jumped out of the vehicle and ran into the bush for safety but the assailants allegedly pursued and shot him dead

Suspected herdsmen have allegedly shot dead Nnamdi Ogueche, secretary of Uzo-Uwani local government area of Enugu state.

This incident was reported to have occurred along Olo town in Ezeagu local government area of the state on Wednesday, March 20.

Ogueche was said to be returning from a peace meeting between communities and the herdsmen terrorising parts of Uzo-Uwani local government area when the herdsmen allegedly ambushed his vehicle and shot him dead, Vanguard reports.

He was said to be in the company of three others when the suspected herdsmen attacked their vehicle. According to the report, he jumped out of the vehicle and ran into the bush for safety along with the other occupants. However, the assailants allegedly pursued and shot him dead.

Chairman of Uzo-Uwani local government area, Fidelis Ani, who reportedly confirmed the killing said he was killed along Olo community road.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the Edo command of the Nigerian Police Force confirmed the rescue of Enogie Godwin Aigbe, the abducted monarch of Ukhiri community, Ikpoba-Okha local government area of the state.

DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, the command’s public relations officer, confirmed the development in Benin on Thursday, March 21.

Legit.ng gathered that Nwabuzor said that the monarch was rescued by officers of the Anti- kidnapping and Cybercrime Unit of the command, led by SP Balogun Richard, who acted on an intelligence report.
