Vinicius Junior has come out to reveal he was close to signing for Barcelona rather than his present club, Real Madrid.
The Brazilian youngster has proven to be one of the few positives in the Madrid side this season, who got knocked out of the Champions League and are currently struggling in La Liga.
However, the 18-year-old has scored seven goals and provided 13 assists in 33 matches in all competitions for Los Blancos.
The Brazilian prodigy arrived at the Bernabeu last July after signing a pre-agreement with Real in May 2017.
And Vinicius has now opened up he held discussions with Barca for a possible move to Camp Nou, but he made a U-turn on his decision.
He told Cadena SER: "My father never told me of interest until Barcelona and Real Madrid.
"Then we visited both clubs and liked them both.
"Barcelona wanted to pay more, but we wanted the best project and Marcelo and Casemiro spoke to me and helped me decide."

Vinicius is currently on the sidelines after suffering a ligament injury during the 4-1 loss to Ajax in the Champions League.
He will need to prove himself to new boss, Zinedine Zidane who replaced Santiago Solari, when he returns from injury
The pacy winger can already see the difference between the two as coaches despite not being in action for Real for a month.
He added: "Casemiro told me that, when Zidane spoke, he would get a bit nervous.
"It is quite different how Zidane speaks compared to Solari. He is a legend, he won everything and he is special.
"To me, he said to be calm about the injury in order to return stronger."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Real Madrid youngster Vinícius Júnior broke down in tears after sustaining an injury against Ajax in the Champions League round of 16 encounter.
The 18-year-old Brazilian star was hauled off the pitch and replaced with Marco Asensio after just 36 minutes at the Bernabeu.
