Reports also claimed that the cultists, who robbed the locals, kept terrorising the community with heavily sophisticated weapons that seemed to have overpowered police and other security agencies.

Tribune source claimed that one of the dead corps member, Popoola Oluwatobi Olamide, was a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and an indigene of Oyo state, while adding that the second victim could not be identified.

According to witness, the cultists numbering six stormed the room of the corps members around 10.30pm.

He said: ''We heard the gunshot from the direction of the corps members’ room. One of them was heard shouting ‘Jesus!’ repeated times and asking what was their crime. Another shot sounded and he stopped talking.”

The commissioner of police in the state, upon paying a visit to the NYSC secretariat, said Governor Dickson has been briefed on the incident, adding that there would be increased security for the community.

He said: "There is nobody that will hear the incident that would not be shocked. The corps members in the State may be scared but please assure them that there will be improved security under my watch.”
