The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has summoned an emergency meeting ahead of the supplementary governorship elections scheduled for Saturday, March 23.
Vanguard reports that the party summoned the meeting on Wednesday, March 20, to discuss issues relating to the Saturday elections.
A source who does not want to be named, told the newspaper that party would also brief NEC members about the progress on the presidential election petition filed by its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Meanwhile, Peter Obi, the former vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has explained why former vice president Atiku Abubakar and his party dragged President Muhammadu Buhari to court over his victory in the Saturday, February 23 election.
Channels TV reports that in a statement issued on Tuesday, March 19, Obi said Atiku and the PDP approached the presidential election petition tribunal to grow the nation’s democracy.
