I have not, will not, will never abandon Atiku - Gbenga Daniel

- Gbenga Daniel have denied claims that he abandoned Atiku Abubakar at the time when he needed him most

- The former Ogun state governor said although he has left the opposition party, he will never leave Atiku

- According to Daniel, said he lost interest in partisan politics having put in about 20 years of his life in a thankless process

A former director of the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation, Gbenga Daniel, has promised never to abandon the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Daniel's statement followed the controversy trailing his recent resignation from PDP shortly after the presidential election.

In a statement released on Tuesday, March 19, Daniel said although he has left the opposition party, he will never leave Atiku.

Stating clearly his decision to resign from PDP and active politics, Daniel said he lost interest in partisan politics having put in about 20 years of his life in a thankless process.

he also promised to commit majority of his resources to helping the less privileged through his foundation and knowledge sharing.

Daniel said: "I have not, will not and will never abandon Atiku. Atiku is different from PDP. I have resigned from PDP and lost interest in partisan politics having put in about 20 years of my life in a thankless process."

"I will commit my God given resources to help less the less privileged through my Foundation and will contribute sharing the body of knowledge through our not for profit Political Academy," Daniel said.

"That will be a thankful process. I will continue to support the political process in a non partisan manner.

"I am clear with my position, without any ambiguity. There is no need to insinuate, speculate, extrapolate, anticipate or draw conclusions on my behalf. I did not expect such a simple personal decision can generate such national discourse and for that I remain grateful to God. I am however most grateful to all my friends and well wishers.

The phones have not stopped ringing. All the advice are well taken," he added.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Daniel may have taken a definite stand concerning his alleged political move to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former governor, who announced his resignation from the PDP in a letter to the party’s headquarters recently, was believed to have moved to the APC after he revealed that his supporters wanted him to lead them to the ruling party.

As reactions from Nigeria, Daniel said he was not heading to the APC.
