- Lionel Messi models Argentina's new kit nine months after last playing for his national team
- The 31-year-old will be representing the south American team for the first time since they crashed out of Russia in 2018
Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has unveiled Argentina's new jersey ahead of their friendly clash against Venezuela this weekend.
The 31-year-old recently returned to his country's national team for the first time after crashing out of 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Messi stood in front of a background similar to the sky blue colour of the jersey pointing to the AFA badge on his chest.
The Barca forward scored just once in four appearances at last summer World Cup, but assisted two other goals before losing to France in the second round of the competition.
Argentina battle Venezuela this weekend and wrap up their FIFA international window with a friendly meeting with north African side Morocco four days.
The south American country while posting the new kit on their social media handle said that: "There are players, there are teams, there is new shirt. Come On Argentina!"
Meanwhile, coach Lionel Scaloni will be hoping Messi will replicate his form for his club when they battle fellow south American side.
The 31-year-old has 29 goals and 12 assists in 26 Spanish League appearances this campaign - as he completed his 51st career hat-trick in his side's 4-1 win over Real Betis last weekend.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Barcelona star Lionel Messi took part in Argentina's training for the first time since they crashed out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The 31-year-old could not help his south American side avoid defeat to eventual winners France in the last 16 stage last summer.
He has however decided to stage a return to the national team nine months after the expiration of his self assigned holiday.
