Antoine Griezmann, Atletico Madrid forward, has come out to say sorry to Barcelona for snubbing them last season and hopes he can be signed next summer.

The France international was close the joining the Spanish champions a year ago having been involved in lengthy negotiation with the club.

But the 27-year-old committed his future with Atletico Madrid through a television documentary just before the World Cup which left Barca stunned.

However, things have not gone well for the Frenchman having been played out of his natural role to a more defensive role due to tactics of Diego Simeone.

And with the way Atletico crashed out of the Champions League, the 2018 World Cup winner has been considering his options.

According to Spanish news media outlet Mundo Deportivo, Griezmann's representatives have contacted Barcelona with the hope of a possible transfer in the summer.

It is understood that the reports believe the ex-Real Sociedad man has deeply apologized for turning his back on Barcelona and felt it was a mistake.

The reports also said Griezmann would be more than willing to make the move to the Nou Camp, an offer he passed up 12 months back.

The story suggests that when the apology was made by the Frenchman, it left officials at Barcelona stunned.

It is understood that La Blaugrana did not respond to Griezmann's apology but with club looking to strengthen their squad next season, he could be put into consideration.

With Luis Suarez needing back-up in attack and Philippe Coutinho struggling to make an impact, they could allow the Brazilian leave at the end of the season.

But the move from Griezmann may have been coming too late, with Eintracht Frankfurt's Luka Jovic already in the pipeline.
