Denis Suarez could be making a premature return to Barcelona after failing to make his loan move to Arsenal count.

The Gunners are already lining up a replacement for the Spanish international who has struggled to impress under Unai Emery.

A loan deal was agreed for the 25-year-old in January with a view of making the deal permanent in the summer pegged at £18million.

Suarez is yet to make Arsenal's starting XI in all competitions since his arrival and has failed to make the mark in six substitute appearances so far.

The Spanish manager believes the player is struggling to cope with the physicality of the Premier League despite handing him the chance in English topflight division.

Arsenal are currently in Dubai on a training tour and will face Saudi Arabia side Al Nassr in a club friendly on Thursday, March 21.

It is understood Emery is planning for a summer swoop for Paris Saint-Germain winger Christopher Nkunku.

Emery is aware of the talent of the France U-21 international during his two year spell at Parc des Princes.

The north London club tried to sign the 21-year-old on loan in January but an agreement was not reached with the Ligue 1 outfit before opting for Suarez.

Meanwhile, had earlier reported that Denis Suarez has expressed disappointment with how his first game for Premier League side Arsenal ended in a defeat against former club Manchester City.

Suarez is the only player that joined Arsenal in the January 2019 transfer and he made the switch to the Emirates stadium from Spanish champions Barcelona. ( -> We have updated to serve you better.
