Heavy security presence at Bauchi INEC office

Emerging reports have claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters located on Ahmadu Bello way in Bauchi ‎metropolis has been under heavy security presence since the declaration of governorship election as inconclusive.

Daily Trust reports that movement on the road has been blocked as police and military vehicles ‎were placed on the road blocking one of the two lanes.

It was learnt that the atmosphere in the state has been tensed as both APC and PDP along with their supporters are accusing each other of being responsible for the malpractices that caused the stalemate.

The electoral commission is ready to re-collate Tafawa Balewa LGA results amidst commendations and criticisms.

Tafawa Balewa has 11 federal wards ‎which include Bununu, Mbal, Bula, Dul, Kardam A and Kardam B. Other wards are Lere south, Lere north, Tapshin, Dajin and Wai.

The area has been a stronghold of the PDP since the coming of democracy in 1999.

Legit.ng previously reported that the deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yekini Nabena, has said his party rejects in entirety the position taken by INEC regarding the governorship election in Bauchi state.

Recall that the Festus Okoye-led committee of the electoral commission went on a fact-finding mission to the state. Afterwards the committee recommended that the election would be concluded without a re-run.

Nabena accused the Festus Okoye-led committee of the electoral commission of evil plot against the ruling party.

He also asked the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to forget the dream of taking over the governorship seat of Bauchi state.
