Governorship forum pledges support to Governor El-Rufai

- Kaduna governorship forum has pledged support to Governor Nasir El-Rufai

- El-Rufai was declared winner of governorship election held in the state on March 9

- The forum said it would support the governor to advance the state

The governorship candidates forum in Kaduna state has said it was satisfied with the gubernatorial election conducted in the state and pledged to work with Governor Nasir El-Rufai to advance the state.

The chairman of the forum, Awwal Aliyu, made this known in a statement issued on Monday, March 18 and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna. reports that Aliyu said that the forum, which has 30 governorship candidates and 49 political party chairmen pledged to support the incoming administration of El-Rufai.

“We have also resolved to follow-up on his support to anywhere legally possible if need be. This is to ensure that the vote and support of the good people of Kaduna is not truncated by anyone or group of few selfish people.

"It is against this background that the forum thus advises those trying to make up fictitious figures of support from political parties and non existing candidates to hold their peace and come to reality of God’s making.

"Following the successes recorded by the people of Kaduna state including domestic and foreign observers concerning the governorship and House of Assembly elections, we once again want to reiterate on the free, fair, transparent and credible nature of the election.

"The collective will of the good people of the state was expressed without cognisance of our differences of any sort which transcend to the peace that we enjoy today even to the aftermath of the elections,

"This to us is an indication that democracy has not only come to stay in the state, but in our country Nigeria at large," he said.

The chairman also congratulated all the winners of the elections and advised the people to perceive the entire elections as a win-win situation to everyone that contested the election from whichever platform.

"While to those that were victorious, we desire and advise them to be magnanimous in victory knowing fully that it is God that gives power to who soever He wishes.

“We also congratulate Gov. El-Rufai for inviting all to jointly work with him towards salvaging Kaduna in his acceptance speech.”

Meanwhile, had previously reported that Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state reacted to the alleged death of his driver and the purported report that he was in comatose, describing it as the handiwork of his political enemies in the state.
