JUST IN: Atiku sets up team of lawyers, files suit against Buhari's re-election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Monday, March 18, set up a team of lawyers to file a petition against the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Atiku's group of lawyers at the Court of Appeal, which is the venue of the presidential poll tribunal, is led by one Chris Uche.

Premium Times reports that the team are in the processes of filing the petition against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)'s declaration of President Buhari as the winner of the just concluded presidential poll.

Confirming the development when asked by newsmen, the head of Atiku's team of lawyers, Uche briefly replied: “Yes it is true.”

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the presidential election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja had granted Atiku access to the presidential election material.

The three-man panel on Wednesday, March 6 heard the ex-parte motion filed by Atiku and his party seeking access to the materials used in the presidential election which was won by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Justice Abdul Aboki who led the panel ordered INEC to allow Atiku access to all electoral materials to enable him file electoral petition.
