The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa state has warned the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stop disrespecting Pa Edwin Clark and other south-south leaders.
Daily Trust reports that Chief Godspower Keku who is the state secretary of the PDP in a statement on Friday, March 15, condemned the “despicable display of disrespect for the person of Ijaw national leader, Clark, and other elder statesmen and leaders in the South South and Middle Belt regions by the leaders of APC in the state.”
Keku also criticised Diofie Buokoribo of the APC for casting aspersions “on the integrity of Pa Clark and other leaders in the regions, regarding their views about the election-related violence in Rivers and Bayelsa states.”
He said that it was as “immoral and sickening for a son of the south-south to make such a disparaging remarks about the elders and leaders of his people for saying the truth about issues of grave concern to them."
He called on the APC in the state led by Chief Timipre Sylva and Senator Heineken Lokpobiri to apologise to the people.
Recall that the Bayelsa chapter of the APC on Thursday, March 14, criticised the Edwin Clark led Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum for being partisan in comments on elections.
NAN reports that the Bayelsa APC made the observation in a reaction to a statement by the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum entitled, “On Danger Signals from Rivers and Other States.”

The statement was signed by Chief E.K. Clark (PANDEF Leader); Chief Ayo Adebanjo (Afenifere Leader); Chief John Nwodo (President General, Ohaneze); and Dr Pogu Bitrus (President, Middle Belt Forumt)
