Probe Imo REC - Okorocha son-in-law’s campaign organisation to security agencies

- The campaign organisation of Uche Nwosu has called for the probe of the state REC

- Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP was declared winner of the governorship election

- The organisation claimed the election was compromised

Uche Nwosu campaign organisation has asked security agencies to probe the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state.

The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance lost the governorship election to Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Daily Trust reports that the son-in-law of Governor Rochas Okorocha had alleged the election was marred by irregularities.

The director-general of Uche Nwosu campaign organisation, Chidi Ibe, alleged that state REC and the Returning Officer compromised by rigging the election in favour of the PDP candidate.

He said Ihedioha did not “garner up to 25 percent votes in about two-thirds of the Local Government Areas across the state."

“After the elections, apart from what happened in the various Local Government Areas (LGAs) where the normal procedural system of conducting the elections were not observed.

“And apart from that, the results were collated where the card readers were abandoned. But INEC aided a particular party PDP to generate fictitious votes that were not recorded.

“Even while our agents were at the state collation center, the Returning Officer in collaboration with the Resident Electoral Commissioner insisted and accepted those results.”

Meanwhile, the coalition of Imo state APC, known as allied forces, has commended Imo citizens for voting against Governor Rochas Okorocha's ambition at the just concluded governorship/House of Assembly elections in the state.

Theodore Ekechi, former commissioner for Information and convener for the APC coalition, alongside other members spoke at Imerienwe, Ngor Okpala local government area in Imo state.

Ekechi said Okorocha should quickly prepare his handover note as well as march forward to ask God for forgiveness, adding that Okorocha had failed because he rebuffed all the advice given to him. ( -> We keep evolving to serve our readers better
