Nigeria is a widely heterosexual community and sexual relations that is not between man and woman is considered wrong and immoral.
For that reason, many Nigerians who are homosexuals either leave the country to start a new life or remain in the closet and hide their real sexual orientation.
Bisi Alimi was the first openly gay Nigerian man who revealed his real sexual orientation on TV in 2004. He received a lot of backlash and he was forced to sneak out of the country.
