Champions League: Supercoumpter tips Manchester City to emerge winner

- A FiveThirtyEight Supercomputer has predicted the new champions of Europe

- The technology believe it will be an all England affair in the Champions League final

The 2018-19 Champions League season will produce a new winner after defending champions Real Madrid were knocked out in the round of 16.

The draws is set to hold on Friday, March 16, at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, as the teams will know their opponents in the next stage of the tournament.

Crsitiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi headlined their respective second leg round of 16 clashes against Atletico Madrid and Lyon.

Four Premier League teams made it through to the last eight since the 2008-09 season as Manchester City, Liverpool joined Manchester United and Tottenham will be involved in Friday's draw.

And now a FiveThirtyEight supercomputer has predicted who will lift the trophy at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid on June 1.

The Red Devils were given just a 34 per cent chance in making it to the semis and 11 per cent possibility of going all the way to the finals to win the Cup.

Porto are the side with lowest chance of winning the Champions League with a 74 per cent chance according to the Supercomputer.

But City have a 49 per cent possibility and 28 per cent likelihood of lifting the trophy at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Liverpool have the 41 per cent prospect of playing in the finals with their Premier League rivals which might cause them another heartbreak for the second consecutive season.

Mauricio Pochettino's side were predicted to get dumped out of the tournament with a 38 per cent chance of progressing past the last eight and only a 13 per cent shot of reaching the final and five per cent chance of winning it.

Almighty Barcelona and Juventus will be eliminated by the two out of the Premier League sides in the semis, which are possibly Liverpool and City.

Meanwhile, had earlier reported that Liverpool's 3-1 win over Bayern Munich meant that four Premier League sides will play in the quarter-final of this season's Champions League for the first time since 2008/2009 season.
