- Ousmane Dembele is now expected to be out of action for three to four weeks
- This is because of the injury the Frenchman sustained against Lyon in the Champions League
- Barcelona confirmed the latest development about Dembele on their official website
Spanish champions Barcelona have been hit with a severe blow after confirming that star player Ousmane Dembele will be out for three-four weeks after sustaining an injury against Lyon.
Dembele only lasted for twenty minutes in Barcelona's win over Lyon and scored the last goal in the Catalans' 5-1 win which sent them to the quarterfinal of this season's Champions League.
Barcelona however confirmed on their website that Dembele has undergone medical tests on Thursday morning, March 14, and has been ruled out for close to a month.
Dembele will be out of Euro 2020 qualification action for France with games against Moldova and Iceland approaching for Les Bleus.
He must also sit out of upcoming fixtures for Barcelona with Ernesto Valverde’s side set to take on Real Betis, Espanyol, Villarreal and Atletico Madrid before the middle of April.
So far this season, the Frenchman has played 35 games for Barcelona in all competitions.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Barcelona thrashed Lyon 5-1 on Tuesday, March 13, in a last-16 clash at Camp Nou to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
The encounter saw a decent performance from the home-side that had the likes of Clement Lenglet, Sergi Roberto and Ivan Rakitic join the squad after sitting out last weekend’s win over Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.
