Allow INEC to do their job, don't rejoice over Adamawa yet - Group tells PDP

- A group has warned PDP against claiming to be the winner of Adamawa governorship election

- The group asked the party to wait for INEC to declare a winner before it will start rejoicing

- The election in Adamawa state was declared inconclusive in 44 polling units

A group, Coalition of Christian Youths for All Progressives Congress, has asked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not to rejoice over the governorship election in Adamawa state until a winner has been declared.

The Nation reports that the PDP candidate, Umaru Fintiri, attained the lead votes in that election, but INEC declared the election inconclusive because the margin of lead was lower than the number of registered voters in polling units where voting was cancelled.

However, celebration has already started in the PDP camp over the result of the election.

While reacting to the celebration in PDP's camp, the APC group said the opposition party should not rejoice yet.

The group said: “How desperate can PDP be to want to take the laws into their hands on an election that was declared inconclusive in 44 polling units across some LGAs in the State?” he said, adding that PDP could not rightly claim that it knows electoral laws than INEC.

"They should please allow INEC to do their job."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that former governor and chieftain of the PDP, Boni Haruna, spoke about the Adamawa state gubernatorial elections, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission to declare the winner of the poll because his party candidate won with a wide margin of 32,476 votes.

Haruna said INEC has been holding meetings with the APC elements, adding that it is contrary to laid down rules.

He said anything short of declaring Ahmadu Fintiri as the winner of the election would spell doom for the state as the people who voted the PDP candidate are ready to defend their votes with their last blood.
