- She started a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for a car to help her work and study

- A friend from a support group for disabled people donated R8000 (N198,803) to her campaign

Tinyiko Gwambe is inspiring Mzansi with her commitment to improving the lives of disadvantaged children. Not willing to let her own personal challenges stand in the way of her vision, Tinyiko boldly decided to raise funds for a new car, with the hope that it will put her in a better position to help those who need it the most.

Tinyiko is an aspiring social worker who comes from the small town of Tshilamba, Limpopo. Having been born with no arms, Tinyiko has had to adapt to a world that is not as accommodating as it should be for differently-abled people. But this is rapidly changing and Tinyiko aims to be a valuable part of the transformation.

Hoping to be mobile in order to attend lectures and find employment as a social worker, Tinyiko started a successful crowdfunding campaign to buy herself a car, Legit.ng found.

Humbly, she thanked everyone who supported her and expressed her appreciation for their understanding of the difficulties that disabled people experience. Tinyiko assured Mzansi that the car will be put to good use.

Tinyiko’s most significant donation came from a young lady, Gugu Molefe, who donated R8000 (N198,803)to Tinyiko's cause. Gugu and Tinyiko met at a support group for people with disabilities and soon became positive influences in each other’s lives.

Gugu has Osteogenesis imperfecta, which is an incurable disease. Encouraged by Tinyiko’s initiative, Gugu was eager to contribute.

Gugu experienced similar challenges in her journey towards a career in radio broadcasting. Because of her limited mobility in her arms, she is unable to use a wheelchair and lacked the money to be able to buy an electric wheelchair.

Tinyiko helped Gugu crowdfund for her wheelchair last year. The campaign was more successful than the pair could anticipate. When a donor saw Gugu’s campaign, he organised a new electric wheelchair to be donated to Gugu, freeing up the funds raised through the campaign for other expenses.

Gugu decided the best use for the money would be to support Tinyiko and her dream.

This is wonderful.
