The Oyo state police has arrested Wasiu Olafisoye Akinmoyede, the chief whip of the House of Assembly, over the murder of Honourable Temitope Olatoye also known as Sugar.
The arrest of the chief whip has brought the number of people arrested so far in connection with the case to two, The Nation reports.
Olatoye was a representative of Lagelu/Akinyele federal constituency in the lower House of the National Assembly, while Akinmoyede represents Lagelu constituency at the state level.
Olugbenga Fadeyi, the police public relations officer, however, said he is not aware of the arrest.
On the other hand, Olagunju Ojo, the speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, confirmed the arrest, saying the House was aware of the development.
He said: “I am not aware that he has been taken to Abuja. I am only aware that he is under investigations but I am not aware whether he has been taken to Abuja or not."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the family of Honourable Olatoye said his murder was politically motivated.
It should be recalled that Sugar was killed on his way to Ibadan during the governorship election.
It was also reported, that Olajide Olatoye, a brother of the late lawmaker, who spoke on Tuesday, March, 12, said the murder of Sugar must be properly investigated.
