The senate president, Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday, March 13, finally recognized and swore in Isaac Alfa as the senator representing Kogi East at the upper legislative chamber.
Alfa was sworn in as a senator in presence of his colleagues during plenary.
It was learnt that the brief swearing in ceremony followed a declaration by the Supreme Court declaring Alfa as the authentic winner of the election in Kogi state.
The seat had been occupied by Atai Aidoko Ali until the Supreme Court ruling.
Legit.ng earlier reported that a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, February 21, asked Senator Atai Aidoko representing Kogi East senatorial district to vacate the seat at the National Assembly for Isaac Alfa.
The court ruled that Alfa is the winner of the 2015 Kogi East senatorial seat and ordered his immediate swearing-in as the Kogi East senator by Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Justice Anwuli Chikere struck out the application by Senator Aidoko seeking for a review of the earlier judgement.
The judgement for Aidoko to vacate the senatorial seat for Alfa came two days to the 2019 presidential and National Assembly elections.
Atai Aidoko had advised Air Marshall Isaac Alfa to wait for the verdict of the Supreme Court before accusing the leadership of the Senate of bias in the entire saga.

Alfa was replied by Aidoko following a media outcry that the leadership of the Senate was insincere in a bid to uphold the outcome of an appeal court that declared him the winner of the Kogi East senatorial zone in 2015.
Alfa had been locked in a three-and-half-year legal tussle with Senator Atai Aidoko over the result of the senatorial seat in which he has been declared winner in different verdicts earlier given by six courts.
