Just In: Buhari holds first FEC meeting after re-election

- The Federal Executive Council meeting is ongoing at the Presidential Villa

- The Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha and some ministers are present

- This is the first FEC meeting after President Buhari won his re-election bid

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently presiding over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting holding at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting started with the arrival of the president to the council chamber of the villa by 11:09am, Daily Trust reports.

In attendance is the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, SGF Boss Mustapha, chief of staff, Abba Kyari; head of service of the federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita; national security adviser, Babagana Monguno; and 28 other ministers.

It was also reported that everybody laughed when the president asked that Rotimi Amaechi, the minister of transport, and Adebayo Shittu, lead the prayer session at the meeting.

Recall that Legit.ng earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari met with seven governors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The seven governors are Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Abdulaziz Yari ( Zamfara), Abubakar Badaru, (Jigawa) Kashim Shettima (Borno) and Fayemi Kayode (Ekiti).

Buhari left Daura for Abuja in the early hours of Tuesday, March 12. The president had gone to Daura, his country-home, where he cast his vote in the governorship and state assembly elections.

Legit.ng also previously reported that Buhari declared that he would want to be remembered as a leader who kept his word that elections in Nigeria must be free, fair and credible.

The president made this known in a statement issued by his senior special assistant on media, Malam Garba Shehu, when he received Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina state at his private residence in Daura, on Monday, March 11.
