Shamoo is never a politician and I don’t want to be. When I was studying at Bayero University Kano, I was confronted by some friends that they unanimously endorsed me for Gombe State Students Associations known as GOSSA president in BUK, but I declined the offer without an iota of any second thought, the rest is now history as they say.

In 2015, the gubernatorial primary election of the APC was keenly contested by the now governor-elect Muhammadu Inuwa Yahya and the runner up in the just concluded gubernatorial election Usman Bayero Nafada of the PDP.

Then, the latter was also a card carrying member of the APC. Inuwa Yahaya defeated Bayero Nafada in the primary election.

He was quoted to have said to Bayero “ you didn’t lose, we are one united family, had i lost, i would also join hand with you and make sure that you deliver”.

He convinced him to accept the Gombe north senatorial seat slot, he did and eventually won.

Gombe north is where both the two politicians come from and that was and has always been the stronghold of the APC then and now; after winning his senatorial seat, Inuwa was convinced that Bayero would deliver him Kwami, Funakaye, Dukku and his local government of origin Nafada.

But to the greatest surprise and disappointment of many people including myself, the results went in favor of the incumbent Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.

Rumors started emanating that Bayero decided to support Dankwambo rather than his party which was a clear case of Anti Party, he was alleged to had decided to wait for Dankwambo to finish his second tenure than support Inuwa to do his first and maybe second term, which to him, this elongate his period of waiting.

I had heated arguments with some dye in the wool supporters of the APC where I challenged this allegation on Nafada, (i.e Anti Party), but subsequent events proved me wrong.

After spending over three years as a senator under the platform of APC, he later on decamped to the PDP alongside many APC senators.

He showed his interest to contest for the governor of Gombe State under PDP and purchased the form, some influential people in the party were against his decision to contest for governor under the umbrella, credible sources have it that he reminded them the support he gave Dankwambo, which without it he won't have returned for second term as the Governor.

With this, they succumbed, having realized that Dankwambo had decided to endorse him against all odds and he later won the primary election under PDP.

Inuwa and Bayero were the flag bearers of APC and PDP respectively in the state in the just concluded March, 92019 Gubernatorial election.

The former once again defeated the latter by winning 10 out of the 11 local governments of the state and pulled 364,179 votes against 222,868 secured by the former deputy speaker.

May I with respect and humility congratulate the duo and may Allah SWT help the Governor-elect and may he hit to the ground running, Ameen.
